I won't be able to attend the reunion - will be in LA on a consulting job.

What have I been doing since graduation - a lot.  Have helped develop brands that have become very common - Macy's, Sephora, Stella McCartney and Bare Escentuals.

After graduation started off in the food service industry and learned it wasn't for me.

Moved to Dallas in 1988 and began my career in retail at Macy's.  Lived and worked in Dallas until 1995 when I moved to San Francisco to work in the buying office at Macy's and began my work in the cosmetics industry.  Very quickly fell in love with San Francisco - this is the most beautiful place you can imagine.

Left Macy's in 2000 to work at a new concept retailer - Sephora.  It was a great place to work and developed my entrepreneurial spirit.

Left Sephora in 2002 and moved to New York to launch 3 new fragrance brands - Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Zegna with much success.  Loved living in New York and travelling the country, but always felt San Francisco was my home.

Moved back to San Francisco in 2004 to help with the management and distribution of Bare Escentuals.  After 5 awesome years, I left Bare Escentuals last September and have started working with a consulting firm specializing in the cosmetics industry as a VP of one of the divisions.

Have fun at the reunion!  Remember that life gives us many surprises, opportunities and challenges - embrace them all and see where they take you.

Couldn't make it to the Reunion. I was vacationing in Mexico with my wife and daughter. My wife is from there. The photo is of my wifes family, my daughter and I. My daughter is sitting (yellow shirt), I'm the one in the house.  I refer to them as my second family. We go to visit them every summer.

Glad to hear everyone had a good time at the Reunion. Saw the many photos. Seems time has been good to all of y'all. Hope I can be at the next one.

Seattle WA 2 Marijane

Here's a snap shot of what's gone on with me since our graduation in 1980.

Went to school in the San Francisco Bay Area. Really enjoyed the region.  Learned to ski on the slopes around Lake Tahoe.  Went on extended back-country hiking trips with my brothers and father in the Northern Sierras.

Had a great time at school wind-surfing, playing ultimate frisbee, visiting the beaches at Half Moon Bay, touring the Napa Wine country and heading up to San Francisco for nights out.  Probably went to classes and studied in there somewhere as well!

Joined the Air Force after school with the intent of becoming a pilot, but my color vision wasn't good enough, so instead I did a variety of special projects while stationed at Travis AFB (just north of the Bay Area).

Met Marijane while in the service, and we were married in 1987.  MJ is from the Pacific Northwest, and she grew up on the border between Washington and Oregon on the Columbia River.  She joined the service straight out of high school, and worked in the Civil Engineering squadron building forward-operating bases and repairing runways.  She worked on her degree while in the service and finished it just after leaving, about a year ahead of the end of my commitment with the Air Force.

I worked for Airborne Express after the Air Force in several spots in the Bay Area.  At one point MJ and I lived in a little apartment on Telegraph Hill in San Franciso which was pretty cool.  We really enjoyed our time in the Bay Area skiing, hiking, visiting Napa & Sonoma, and nights out in the City.  MJ worked for Nordstrom when we were in San Francisco, but went back to CE work when we moved south to a couple different spots on the Peninsula.

We moved to Seattle with Airborne in early 1992, which was like a home-coming for MJ, and our first daughter, Rachel, arrived in June of that year.  Marie came along three years later in June 1995.  MJ became a full-time mom, and I continued working with Airborne, moving up through the ranks.

In 2005 Airborne combined with DHL.  I helped put that transaction together, and then afterward I helped bring the two operations together.  I stayed with DHL for several years, but MJ, the girls and I didn't want to move to their HQ in Florida, so I found another job working for Cerberus, a private equity firm.  That job was exciting and challenging, until Wall Street went haywire, the economy tanked, and the financial industry flat-lined.  I spent several months between jobs at home working my network, putting out resumes, and going on interviews; hadn't done that in 25 years!

I joined up with United Rentals last June, and I have been helping implement nationwide strategic projects.  They are a great group of folks, and the work is really interesting, but we have had to make several rounds of painful personnel reductions, and everyone is nervous about what may come next.  Hopefully we are all about to turn the corner and put these last couple of years behind us!

In the meantime, the girls have become thoroughly Pacific Northwesterners like their mom and they are in their teenage years.  Rachel is looking at either the University of Washington or the University of Oregon for college.  Marie still has several years before college, but is thinking more about the UC schools, . . . LA, Santa Barbara, Berkely, or Davis.

Rachel plays piano, has taken several years of Japanese, and is in the Running Start program her last two years of high-school.  That's a Washington State program that pays for two years of community college for kids that want to complete high school while getting college credit for their course work.  Marie has explored several different extra-curricular activities and is currently working on French, ballet, and knitting.  Don't know whether she'll go for Running Start or not.

My folks retired to Houston and so we visit them in the spring, and they come up to the Puget Sound in the fall.  Coincidentally, my two elder brothers ended up the the San Francisco Bay area for their jobs.  One of my elder sisters lives in St. Petersburg FL, and the other lives in Manhattan, and so we go for visits to these various places from time-to-time as well.

Over the years, I've taken up sailing, sea kayaking, and surf kayaking, and I really love getting out on the water.  Also, I still enjoy going for hikes, and I am gradually getting to know the Cascade and the Olympic Mountain Ranges.  Summited Mt. St. Helens over fourth of July weekend!!

Every day has been full for these last 30 years, and I'm looking forward to more of the same for the next 30!  Hope to see you all at the reunion.  It will be great to catch up!

I've been married for 27 years to my best friend and we have 3 children. Our oldest is Seth (23) and he is a senior at Southeastern. After graduation he will be entering into the Master's program. It is his desire to  teach at college level. After Seth gets his Masters he plans to get his PHD. Our second son, Joshua (15) will be a sophomore this year. He is a linebacker on his high school football team. Our youngest is our daughter, Aniya (3). She begins preschool in August. I am a Federal Officer and my office is in Dallas, Texas. Fortunately, I am able to work from home and be with our children. My husband is a designer and "designs" chemical plants.

Thirty years....really? That makes me laugh!!
I don't feel any different, just a bit wiser!!
I have a much greater appreciation for our childhood and high school days, life-long friends. And, 30 years is indeed a lifetime since we graduated together. As for me, I am back in Baton Rouge (which surprises me), married, mom of 1 son, step-mom and friend to 5 (1 son, 4 daughters), their spouses, and enjoy playing grandmother to 13.   I must say life is good!  With  excitement I do look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion, and hope I recognize those I haven't seen in soooo long!!
