I loved our high school years; I felt that we were really blessed to have such a great school.  It will be so great to see everyone again.

So what have I been up to since 1980.  Well, the Lord really had some wild plans for me that I didn't have a clue about.  I went to Louisiana Tech and met my wonderful husband there, Scott Pyles.  While we were dating, I transferred to Northwestern University in Shreveport to attend nursing school.  We were married in 1985 and lived in Baton Rouge for 4 years.  Scott worked for my dad.  But then, after a lot of praying, we were convinced that God was calling us to go to Cameroon Africa to begin a medical work among the Fulbe people.  Scott completed one year of Bible school  and then we left to live in France to learn French (Miss Abshire would be so proud of me now :).  By then we had two little boys, Charlie and MIchael.   Then we  headed to Cameroon.  I don't know if many of you remember Mr. Kennison (industrial arts teacher at Sherwood Jr.) but he and his wife were part of our team along with a doctor and his wife.  We moved to north Cameroon, we learned how to live here (building water towers for running water and all of that fun stuff).  We began teaching the young Cameroonians how to be nurses.  Construction of the hospital began in 1993.  We opened the doors in 1994.  I have never done something so difficult in my life but yet so rewarding.  There were so few of us to set it up and get it going and teach the nurses.  Oh my, the stories we could tell!  During the nurses training course, i gave birth to our third child, a precious girl, Jessica. That again was an experience - no hospital, no epidural and 110 degree heat but she was so worth it all.

Today, almost 18 years later, we're still here. I turned over my responsibilities as nursing director, pharmacy and medical supply manager and the Cameroonians are doing the work - yes!!!  That was one of the main goals.  It has been so fantastic to witness all the incredible things God has done through out these years.  His provisions and healings have been unbelievable.

I spend my time now visiting with patients, helping with logistics in obtaining medical supplies and equipment that we can't find here.  The people here don't know how to read so I like to read them the Bible stories in their language. They have never heard them before.

Our children loved growing up here and God continues to take great of them.   Charlie graduated from LSU and is working in Baton Rouge as a free lance videographer.  Michael is currently at the Air Force Academy and hopes to graduate next year and sweet Jessica attends a high school in the capital city of Cameroon (boarding).

It has been a privilege to watch God do all of this work through us - it was not through our might but by His Spirit that these things were done.

Psalm 105:1 sums it all up nicely:
"Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples... Let the heart of those who seek Him be glad."
